A quick off/on usually gets it going again, at least for a little while. Sometimes it’ll go hours without incident. I have no clue what brand of TV was used to make this contraption, but it’s at least 10 years old, and the manufacturer is out of business.
Given that I can usually get it going again with a power cycle, do you think it might be the power supply? I’m guessing that I should probably take a look at the caps when I have it open and see how they’re holding up.

That’s interesting... Not like what I experienced with my TV with dead caps, or my monitors with dead caps or my other TV with a bad power supply , but power anomalies can manifest in all sorts of weird ways.

I’ve had similar with a computer/screen. To this day I don’t know where the problem was. All I know is that it was fixed on the way to the store. So i’d recommend loading it in your care and take it for a ride.

one reliable way to fix it.
put on a pair of work boots, then stick your foot through the screen
